What would happen if adults would put their trust in children? Trust them with their drinks, life advice, or even with their make-up and skin?
Kidarchy's Bar is an immersive performance performed by a collective of local children, for an audience of mainly adults(though other children are welcome ).
The bar is an exercise for adults to trust children and give up their adult power for an hour. The performance is set up as a "bar" environment where adults can choose to do one or more of the bar activities: Get a drink mixed for them by a kid bartender, get advice for their adult problems from a child expert, get their hair cut, their make-up done, or even get a real tattoo from one of the children - the ultimate trust-exercise.
At Kidarchy's Bar, adults meet and surrender to the power of the younger generation in a challenging but safe environment. The performance is developed by the children of Kidarchy in Iceland in collaboration with the adult artistic director. Each performance of Kidarchy’s Bar is different, as local children re-create it with Kidarchy’s artistic directors in a week-long workshop with children before the performance. During the workshop, experts come in and prepare them for doing make-up, advice, drinks, haircuts and even tattoos.
Kidarchy's Bar asks: What if the roles of adults and children were reversed? What if we allow children to change adults? What would happen if adults would actually trust children once in a while?
